What an awesome Saturday we had for a ride. It was hot but nobody seemed to mind. We know where to get a "cold one" to remedy that situation!

There was a total of 19 bikes that met up at the Chevron in Huffman at the intersection of FM 1960 and FM 2100. It was really exciting to see that many bikes and bikers, most of which were sporting Sons of Texas colors! For the ones that weren't, well, I think we made an impression. Here is a rundown of the participants in Saturday's ride. And I apologize in advance for either forgetting or not having everyone's name.

From the Outcasts Chapter we had Fergy & Diamond Lil, Cass & Fiesty, Papa & Ann, Scooter & Pixelchic, Grubster & Mary, Ponyboy & DeeDee, Sarge, Chip, and myself. Papa and Ann brought a couple along who rode a very nice Valkerie. Other guests of the Outcasts Chapter included Rick & Joyce, Dale & Bessie, plus a couple that they brought along (who rode a bike with Canadian plates!), Hope (on her badass Triumph!), Digger & Patsy, and last but certainly not least, Adrian & Becca. From the Gulf Coast Ghost riders we had Trouble along with Block and his lovely wife (who's name escapes me right now, sorry!) Quite a contingent to be sure. And quite a sight to see rumbling down the highway. I also need to mention that Sarge was the Guest of Honor as the day would end at Pappa's Ice House in the Woodlands for his going away party. Sarge is due to ship out soon and do another tour in Iraq. Needless to say, all of our prayers and best wishes go with him as he does the job that only a select few can do. God Bless you Sarge.

Our ride started in Huffman and took us up some very nice scenic and very green highways that only East Texas can provide to our first stop at Pork Chops. This little watering hole is located in Point Blank which is on the west shoreline of Lake Livingston just south of Hwy 190. Pork Chops is a very nice clean place with plenty of cold drinks, good food, and young flirty waitresses! A good time for sure. There's plenty of room either inside or out. Outcasts Chapter highly recommends Pork Chops. While there, Cass and Fergy spoke to a couple that were very interested in joining. If I'm not mistaken, they were from the Humble area which was good news to all as that is home of the Outcasts Chapter! Hopefully Smokin' Joe will be hearing from them real soon. At Pork Chops we lost a few riders as family demands and such would allow only so much riding today. So the rest of us headed out across the expanse that crosses beautiful Lake Livingston and headed to the east shoreline to my personal favorite little spot called the Wet Deck. This place is small, kind of like one of those "best kept secrets" that you don't want anyone else to find out about. As the name implies, they have an awesome deck that overlooks the lake and it is killer. All the tables have umbrellas to keep you shady and there is always a nice breeze. They also serve mixed drinks so that if you're in the mood for a Crown and Coke (me!), you got it! Please drink responsibly. We always have a great time at the Wet Deck. It is a perfect setting with an intimate atmosphere that invites good fellowship and close bonding. It's definitely my favorite spot. From here, some of peeled off again, including myself, and the rest headed over to Papa and Ann's lake house. It is very nearby the Wet Deck and overlooks the same beautiful part of Lake Livingston. Vic and Ann have a terrific place. They will be the first to tell you about how blessed they are. After Vic and Ann's, what was left o f the group, the dedicated, the hardcore, headed to the Woodlands for Sarge's party. It was indeed a spectacular day. Not a lot of miles, but definitely a lot of quality. With friends, on motorcycles, it's all you need. Take care everyone.
